December 31, 2008

Is it really the last day of 2008?  Wow!  Where did the year go?  It’s been a good year but one that also brought some sadness.  Here’s a look back…

January:  Nick turned 12!  Yikes!  He sure is growing up — way too fast!!  He played CYO basketball (and hated it).  Brian & Tay had fun at the AHG Father/Daughter Bowling event.  We all enjoyed seeing High School Musical on Ice.

February:  Once again we hosted a Super Bowl Party.  We invited some new families this year and a good time was had by all.  I didn’t see one minute of the game but had a wonderful time visiting with friends.  Tay & I had fun seeing the Hannah Montana 3D movie with some of our best girlfriends.  Brian & Tay had fun attending “A Night at the Oscars”, an AHG Father/Daughter Dance.

March:  Nick attended a special lunch at UC and got an award for his work as Vice-Mayor of the school’s “Tradetown”.  Tay & I had fun at the AHG Mother/Daughter badge day.

April:  Nick went to an overnight camp with the 6th grade.  He also went to JR Jam at Cedarville University with a group from church.  Brian took a full-time position at National City.

May:  Nick fell from a swingset and fractured a vertabrae in his back!  Tay & I spent the night at the zoo.  Nick graduated from 6th grade.  We wrapped up our 2nd season of Kidstuf.

June:  Brian spent a week in Orlando at a conference.  Nick’s back is healed up.  Brian & his brothers drive race cars in Talladega.  Tay has her yearly dance recital.  We spent many days at the Beach Waterpark.

July:  Nick goes to camp – for an entire week.  He had a blast!  Shadow has knee surgery.  VBS at church is fun – Nick ran sound & I acted in the Bible stories.  We took a fun-filled vacation to the Smokey Mountains.

August:  I had a fun weekend with some of my favorite girlfriends at Women of Faith.  Tay & I went with some friends to Chicago to visit the American Girl Place.  Fun!  Nick started 7th grade (JR High!) and Tay started 4th grade.

September:  Taylor turned 10 & had an awesome party @ Pump It Up.  Nick went on an over-night trip with the 7th grade.  We started our 3rd season of Kidstuf.  Nick moved up to youth group at church — and loves it.  Tay loves cheering for the Lakota Stallions football team.  Her best friends are on her squad.  Fun!

October:  Nick gets braces.  Brian & I celebrate our 18th anniversary.  Tay quits dance (I was shocked too!).  Tay dresses up as a Minnie Mouse pirate for trick-or-treat.  I joined a Bible study with some ladies from church.

November:  Nick went to the state youth convention with church.  Tay cheered at a “Superbowl” game — in freezing cold weather…brrr…  We were shocked when our wonderful Mr. Price went home to be with Jesus.  He was our former neighbor and Brian’s best friend.  We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving.

December:  Nick had a part in the youth group Christmas production and did a great job.  Tay was in a wonderful Children’s musical at church.  I was the chairperson of the school’s bookfair.  Brian’s sweet Grandma Starr went home to be with Jesus.  She was 92 and lived a wonderful life.  We enjoyed Christmas celebrations with our families.  We are NOT ready for Christmas break to end!

What a year!  In addition to our wonderful Mr. P & Brian’s grandma, my great aunt and great uncle also passed away.  In the midst of the times of sadness we’re always reminded that we have much to be thankful for.

2009 will start with some uncertainty as we wait for word on what will happen with Brian’s job.  I am hopeful for what lies ahead.  We may not know what the future holds for us but we know the One who does know!

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 4:11
