When we adopted Charlie we were told that he, along with his brother and two sisters, had been an “owner surrender” at a rural dog pound.  One of the gals from the rescue group had found them there and convinced the rescue group to take them in.  The dog pound they were taken to didn’t see a lot of business and it sounded like it would be unlikely they would be adopted from that location.

We met Charlie’s brother, Corbin, when we first visited the rescue.  His sisters had already been adopted.  From what I’ve read it seems that most people want girl dogs so this really wasn’t a surprise.  While we were there looking at dogs another family came in to look at Charleston (Charlie).  Since we were there first we had the first chance to adopt him if we wanted.  Thankfully the other family decided to adopt his brother so they both got new homes on the same day!

I recently discovered that the rescue group has a page on their website called “Happy Tails”.  It lists all the animals that have been adopted.  I found these pictures of Charlie and his siblings…

Aren’t they precious?

Tay wishes we could arrange a family reunion!  :)

Hi! I am a volunteer at the rescue where Charlie was and there may be a way to arrange a family reunion of sorts. Each year we have a STAF alumni day at a local dog park. Everyone who has adopted a dog gets an invitation. It is so rewarding to see the former shelter dogs with their families. If you get our shelter newsletter, it will definitely be mentioned as the time approaches. Last year it was in October at Red Dog in Oakley. It has also been in June at Armeleder Park. We’d all love to see Charlie again. I used to help transport him and Corbin to daycare at Strictly Dogs on Monday mornings. Glad he has found such a wonderful home!

Thanks for your comment Linda. I don’t get the newsletter. Will go online and see about signing up! I never knew he went to doggie daycare! Wonder how he did. He was such a nervous little guy when we first got him. He’s a different dog now than when we first met him. He still has a few “issues” but has come a LONG way!
